Energy, utilities tariffs should be audited by Big Four – Yatseniuk
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that energy and utilities tariff should be audited by the Big Four auditing companies to avoid further political speculation.
"Our proposal is the following: all the tariffs should be audited by the Big Four, and then we'll close that "political bazaar" that is fighting for the future of Ukrainians. It should have fought five years ago when the price of [Russian] gas was signed," he said in parliament on Friday.
The decision to put this proposal forward was made on May 14 after a meeting with representatives of the National Commission of Ukraine on Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation, NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannia, which was initiated by the Samopomich parliamentary faction.
The Big Four is comprised of Ernst & Young, KPMG, PwC and Deloitte.
As reported, with reference to Batkivschyna faction leader Yulia Tymoshenko, her faction insists on a general meeting of the parliamentary coalition to discuss the indexation of wages and pensions, and a change to energy, housing and utilities rates.
