NCER to propose that parliament bans Ukrnafta from processing gas, registering it as for own needs

The National Commission for Energy, Housing and Utilities Services Regulation (NCER) has proposed that the Ukrainian parliament bans public joint-stock company Ukrnafta from processing gas and registering it as for own needs, acting head of the commission Dmytro Vovk said at a meeting of the working group for checking the justifiability of the increase of energy and utilities prices/tariffs.

"There is a proposal to revise the law on the principles of functioning of the national gas market… there is a chance to improve it in gas processing. I think that lawmakers understand mw – this concern the volumes of own consumption by Ukrnafta," he said.

As reported, Ukrnafta processes a large volume of natural gas extracted for mineral fertilizers at the production facilities of Dniproazot and registers this volume as gas processed for own needs.

The law obliges the whole volume of gas extracted by the company to send to cover needs of households
