Underlying inflation in Ukraine in April slows to 4.6%, reaches 47.1% in annual terms – statistics
Underlying inflation in Ukraine in April 2014 slowed down to 4.6% after a rise of 10.8% a month earlier, the State Statistics Service has said.
According to its data, since the beginning of the year underlying inflation has reached 25.3%, while in annual terms (compared to the same month last year) - 47.1% compared to 44.6% in March, 33.2% - in February, 26.1% - in January, and 22.8% - for 2014.
Underlying inflation does not include short-term irregular changes in prices influenced by various factors of an administrative, event-based or seasonal character. For instance, it does not include changes in the price of food and energy.
Consumer prices in Ukraine in April 2015 increased by 14%, while in annual terms their growth reached 60.9%. The main reason was the increase in gas tariffs by 5.5 times and electricity by 33.6% from April 2015.
