Planned gas consumption to be reduced to 40 bln cubic meters in 2015 – Yatseniuk
On Wednesday, Ukraine's government is due to approve the balance of gas production and consumption for 2015 with planned gas consumption projected at 40 billion cubic meters, which will be 10 billion cubic meters lower than the last two years, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"In the past two years we've virtually trimmed gas consumption by 10 billion cubic meters – the total amount of gas consumption [for 2015] is projected at 40 billion cubic meters," he said while opening a cabinet meeting in Kyiv on Wednesday.
"In fact, the decline in consumption is connected with Russian military aggression, and this has had an impact on industrial companies which consumed gas," Yatseniuk said, referring to the first reason for the decline in gas consumption.
He added the second reason was improved energy efficiency and the replacement of gas with other fuels.
