Ukrzaliznytsia ships over 7 mln tonnes of grain since early 2015
Ukrainian railways loaded almost 111,000 grain carriers from January 1 to April 5, 2015 and carried 7.2 million tonnes of grain, the press service of the State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia) has reported.
The press service said that 6.7 million tonnes of grain was shipped to ports for exports (102,000 wagons) and 460,000 tonnes was shipped in the domestic market (8,970 wagons).
The average daily load of grain on Ukrainian railways tentatively stood at 75,500 tonnes (1,172 wagons).
Pivdenno-Zakhidna Railways loaded the largest amount of grain – 2,492 tonnes and Pivdenna Railways – 2,313 tonnes.
Ukrzaliznytsia said that the existing working park of grain cars allows carrying 3.5 million tonnes of grain per month and more than 42 million tonnes per year.
