Ukraine sees potential for Russian gas price to move lower - Naftogaz chief
The price Ukraine pays for Russian gas has room to move even lower, Naftogaz Ukrainy chief Andriy Kobolev said.
"This price [the Gazprom gas price for Ukraine] is very near to the market price, although we will continue working to reduce it. In our opinion - and our calculations show this - Ukraine ought to buy gas more cheaply than at the European gas hubs," Kobolev said on Ukraine's Fifth TV Channel.
It was reported earlier that Gazprom will charge Naftogaz $247.18 per 1,000 cubic meters in the second quarter.
Ukraine imported 2.157 billion cubic meters of gas from Russia in January-March, 64% less than the 6.092 bcm imported in Q1 2014.
