Energy Ministry disputing Cabinet commission's findings on electricity imports from Russia
Ukraine's Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry is contesting in court the conclusions of the government commission that checked the contract on electricity imports from Russia and its supply to Crimea, minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn has said at a briefing in Kyiv.
"We have filed a lawsuit against the commission's conclusion. About two weeks ago, or ten days... Thus the process has started ... There were many conclusions there: betrayal of national interests, for example. Of course, I cannot agree to this," he said.
The minister stressed that contracts with Inter RAO are not loss-making, as Ukrinterenergo and Energomarket earned about UAH 130 million in January-February.
Demchyshyn also noted the contracts do not contain the wording "Crimean Federal District" imposed as a charge on him.
"It was mentioned at a certain stage [of negotiations], but then it was eliminated," the minister said.
