PGO demands termination of AeroSvit contract on leasing 7.3 ha in Boryspil airport
The Public Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv region has asked the business court to terminate an AeroSvit airline (Kyiv) contract on the lease of a land plot of 7.3 hectares in Boryspil International Airport (Kyiv).
"The basis for the claim was the debt of the airline for rent rates. The rent rate for the land parcel was calculated in 2004, and it has not been revised until now. The rent rate for the whole land parcel is less than UAH 1,000 a month and even this money AeroSvit airline cannot pay," the Public Prosecutor's Office has reported.
It said that in 2004 the land parcel was leased to the airline for engineering and social premises, although the parcel was not used for more than 10 years and no building was built, which is an additional reason why the contract should be terminated.
AeroSvit airline, which was the largest Ukrainian airline, started bankruptcy procedures in December 2012, which was canceled by a Ukrainian court. The airline has ceased operating and does not service flights.
