Gazprom unable to dictate conditions to Naftogaz - Naftogaz head
Board Chairman of national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy Andriy Kobolev has welcomed OJSC Gazprom's readiness to make concessions at future trilateral gas talks in Brussels on the "summer package," pointing out that Gazprom is now unable to dictate conditions.
"Gazprom's share of imports this year would be no more than 40%... I would not say that Gazprom manages to dictate its conditions this year," he said on the Ukraina TV channel.
He said that Ukraine had managed to achieve this thanks to the expansion of reverse supplies and a fall in gas consumption.
Previously, Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said in an interview with Reuters agency that Russia could make concessions for Ukraine in the gas talks and retain the 30% price discount (but no more than $100 per 1,000 cubic meters) if Kyiv pays for Gazprom supplies to militant held areas in Donbas.
