Rada won't authorize Cabinet to regulate electricity production, supply in ATO zone
The Verkhovna Rada has not supported a bill on regulating relations in the energy sector in territory which is not currently under the control of the Ukrainian authorities.
According to bill No. 2182, it was proposed to give the Cabinet with the right to regulate electricity sale from the wholesale market, as well as its generation, transportation and supply to the anti-terrorist operation (ATO) zone.
As reported, in late February the Minister of the Energy and Coal Industry Volodymyr Demchyshyn said that the debt owed by territories uncontrolled by the Ukrainian authorities in Donbas for electricity is about UAH 3.5 billion, for gas – about UAH 7.5 billion.
