Economy ministry hopes to get $800 mln from World Bank and Japan in April
Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Aivaras Abromavicius has expressed hope that the Ukrainian parliament by March 30 will pass ten laws which allow receiving $800 million under the Second Development Policy Loan (DPL-II) from the World Bank in April.
"If we pass all the rest of the laws by March 30, the funds will be provided in April," Abromavicius said at a meeting of the National Reform Council on Wednesday.
The minister said that this concerns the law cutting the number of types of economic operations that are subject to licensing from 56 to 30 passed by the parliament this week. This also concerns the law on protecting investors' rights that could be passed at second reading this week.
Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Dmitry Shymkiv added that the law on the accounting chamber should be passed to receive DPL-II.
Shymkiv said that the World Bank will provide $500 million under DPL-II and the Japanese government will provide $300 million under the intergovernmental agreement on promotion and protection of investment.
