Prices on primary housing market in Kyiv 22.7% up in Feb due to forex fluctuations, say experts
The average housing price on the primary market in Kyiv grew by 22.7% in February 2015 compared to the previous month, and growth of prices on February 2014 reached 54.2%, to UAH 21,202 per square meter, the Stolychna Nerukhomist information and analytical portal (Kyiv) has said.
"This is linked to a sharp rise in the U.S. dollar exchange rate in February. Compared to the previous jumps, this was so tangible that constructors quickly, during one or two days, reacted to it with the increase in the prices, and some simply froze sales, deciding to see what will happen with the exchange rate in the future and then form their price policies for apartments," reads the report.
Stolychna Nerukhomist said that in February 2015 growth of the average price of square meter on the primary market in Kyiv in the premium class segment was 33.16%, to UAH 39,458, business class – 19.67%, to UAH 24,243 and economy class – 14.65%, to UAH 13,299.
The share of economy class was 55%, while the share of business class was 30% and premium class – 15%.
