Sharp fluctuations in Naftogaz gas requests bad for gas transmission system – Novak
Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said he was surprised by the sharp fluctuations in daily gas nominations by Naftogaz Ukrainy and that this affected the stable functioning of the gas transmission system.
"There are no such fluctuations in consumption by the Ukrainian economy, by households. Even so, one day they are asking for 114 million cubic meters, and the next for 10 mcm. Of course these sharp fluctuations are not good for the gas transportation system, for keeping it stable, for sustaining stable volumes of supply," Novak told reporters.
Novak said that Gazprom was currently fulfilling the request it received from Ukraine in the framework of the 'winter package'.
Naftogaz asked Gazprom for 54.9 mcm of gas on each of February 27 and 28 and has requested 10 mcm per day for the period March 1-5.
