Ukraine exports over 9 mln tonnes of wheat since July 1 – agriculture ministry
Ukrainian grain exports from July 1, 2014, when the current marketing year began, to February 17, 2015 came to almost 23.4 million tonnes, including 9.016 million tonnes of wheat.
Barley exports totaled 3.8 million tonnes and maize totaled 10.33 million tonnes, the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry reported.
The State Statistics Committee previously reported rough estimates that Ukraine had harvested a bumper crop of 63.8 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops (without data from Crimea) in 2014, which was 2.4% up on 2013.
Late in January 2015, the ministry and grain market operators signed a memorandum of understanding regarding grain exports in the 2014-2015 marketing year. They agreed on the following volumes of grain exports: 12.8 million tonnes of wheat, including 7.1 million tonnes of food wheat, as well as 20.2 million tonnes of maize, and 4.2 million tonnes of barley.
