Yatseniuk gives order to stock up on gas from Europe; anticipates $250-$300 per 1,000 cu m
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has instructed the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and Naftogaz Ukrainy to fill underground storage facilities with gas from Europe to the maximum extent possible during the coming warm weather season.
"We anticipate a price for natural gas charged by our European partners in the summertime - the second and third quarters - of $250 to $300 [per 1,000 cubic meters], which is a bit less than the $500 Russia was offering us. The urgent task of the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry and Naftogaz Ukrainy in the summer period is to pump maximum gas into Ukrainian underground gas storage facilities at the lowest price," Yatseniuk said at a government meeting on Wednesday.
