Imports of Russian electricity to be cut when power grid stabilizes, says minister
Imports of electricity from Russia will be cut when the operation of the Ukrainian power grid stabilizes, Energy and Coal Industry Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn said, at a meeting of the council of the wholesale electricity market in Kyiv on Friday.
"I declare with full responsibility that this decision is temporary… The fact that the contract was signed for one year – this is the contract and we can renegotiate the schedule every day. I don't see any problem, when the power grid will be self-reliant and there will be enough coal, we'll cancel the contract. The contract will be in effect, but we will cut the volume," he said.
