Gazprom receives another $70 mln from Naftogaz for January gas supplies
The Russian gas giant Gazprom has received another $70 million from Ukraine's national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy for gas shipments in January of this year, Gazprom told journalists.
Once imports from Russia resumed under the so-called "winter package", Naftogaz bought 4988 million cubic meters of gas for $184 million from Gazprom in December.
It had already bought 708 million cubic meters as of January 21.
Nazftogaz has been receiving 20 million cubic meters a day for the last week. Given the pre-payment that was carried over and the additional amount that has been paid, gas supplies in January could rise to 85 million cubic meters, a day.
Interfax has not yet received comment from the parties on the outlook for the further take-up of gas.
