US allocates additional $75 mln support for Ukraine in defense sector, says ambassador
The U.S. Congress has decided to provide an additional $75 million of support for Ukraine’s defense sector, U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt told journalists in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Probably, the United States provides more support to the territorial integrity of Ukraine and its defense than other countries. We've provided $119 million of aid to Ukraine for its defense sector, and Congress has allocated another $75 million of additional support for the defense sector as a part of the European support initiative, he said.
The diplomat said that at present U.S. aid for Ukraine is non-lethal aid. He gave radar and anti-mortar systems in Donbas as an example.
He added that the process of reforming the Ukrainian army is important, not aid in the form of armaments.
