Russia will supply 50,000 tonnes of coal to Ukraine daily
The volume of coal supply from Russia, which began on Friday, will be around 50,000 tonnes of coal per day, Ukrainian Ministry for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities reported, with reference to the Ukrainian presidential press service.
"The Administration of the President of Ukraine has announced that [Russian president] Vladimir Putin had decided to launch, from December 26, shipments of Russian electricity and coal in the amount of 50,000 tonnes per 24 hours to our country, even before Ukraine transfers prepayment," reads a report on the ministry's website posted on Friday evening.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had earlier announced that "a very important result was achieved to unblock coal supplies to Ukraine."
