Ukraine: agreements on electricity imports from Russia at legal registration stage
Agreements on a start to Ukrainian imports of electricity from Russia are currently in the legal registration stage, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said before a government meeting on Wednesday.
"Such agreements already exist conceptually. They are now at the legal registration stage," Demchyshyn said.
The process takes a long time because of the large number of companies with which agreement must be reached before Russian electricity supplies to Ukraine can begin.
"Very many organizations are involved in this process, because this is the transmission infrastructure, the trunk transmission lines on both sides, these are the electricity markets that carry out the settlements between the sides, the commercial organizations. The agreements are very complex. That is why it is taking a long time," he said.
