Poroshenko calls on IMF to consider increasing financial aid to Ukraine
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde have discussed the economic situation in the country and the parties' fulfilling obligations under the Stand-By Arrangement, the press service of the head of state has said.
"Petro Poroshenko assured Christine Lagarde in Ukraine's consistent fulfilling obligations to the International Monetary Fund. The president called on the IMF to consider the possibility of increasing financial assistance to Ukraine," reads a statement.
Lagarde, in turn, expressed support for Ukraine and praised the formation of the parliamentary coalition in the new government.
"This will contribute to the proper implementation of reforms and stabilization of the financial and economic situation in Ukraine," she said.
The parties also agreed on a schedule for further cooperation in the coming period.
