Ukrainian president, IMF officials discuss cooperation
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has met with First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund David Lipton, and Director of the IMF European Department Poul Thomsen.
During their meeting, Poroshenko assured the IMF officials that the Ukrainian leadership was determined to carry out reforms despite the difficult situation in the country, the president's press service reported.
"At present, we have a very professional, result-oriented team where there is no disagreement about the way of reforming the country," Poroshenko said.
In turn, Lipton and Thomsen praised the new government of Ukraine for engaging internationally recognized experts, and the leadership of the National Bank into its work.
The officials discussed cooperation with the IMF and the current program of lending, the press service said.
The Ukrainian president thanked the IMF leadership for their understanding and support, and said he was ready to facilitate further cooperation.
