Ukrzaliznytsia sees UAH 116 mln loss in Jan-Nov due to illegal interference
Ukrainian railways reported 800 cases of illegal interference affecting their operation in January-November 2014.
Ukrzaliznytsia’s press service reported that illegal interference in its operations caused UAH 115.8 millions worth of damage.
"Due to hostilities the number of illegal interference cases and the size of losses at Donetsk railway are being specified," Ukrzaliznytsia said.
According to the report, the most common incidents affecting Ukrzaliznytsia was theft or damage to rolling stock and infrastructure. A total of 399 of such incidents have been registered since early 2014. The company continuously registers reports on the installation of explosives at railway stations and other infrastructure facilities, which also hinders normal operation of the railways, and is inconvenient for passengers. A total of 141 such cases have been registered since early 2014.
In addition, 100 incidents of violence against railway staff and passengers were reported.
