Ukraine will be able to import electricity from Moldova, other counties – Vice Premier Zubko
The green light given by the Cabinet of Ministers on December 5, 2014, to electricity imports into Ukraine will let the country start buying electricity from Moldova and other neighboring countries, Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Hennadiy Zubko said.
"These imports concern not only Russia, but also the countries that may sell electricity to Ukraine. They include Moldova and other countries," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Monday after a government meeting, which discussed amendments to the Budget Code.
Electricity imports into Ukraine will stabilize the country's power grids in general, he said.
"I think if we start importing [electricity into Ukraine], the so-called rolling blackouts won't be on our agenda," he added.
