Ukraine, Slovakia working on expansion of technical possibilities for gas reverse supplies, says Ukrtransgaz
A first phase of a new frontier gas metering station Budince on the territory of Slovakia using which gas from Europe will be imported to Ukraine has been started, the press service of Ukrtransgaz has reported.
"The commissioning of the station will expand the technical possibilities of the Slovakian route and will allow increasing reliability of gas supplies to our country," reads the report, citing head of the metrology and gas metering department of Ukrtransgaz Mykola Bolkhovitin as saying.
As reported, in September 2014, Ukraine imported around 779 million cubic meters of natural gas and 809.3 million cubic meters in October.
In January-October 2014, Ukraine imported around 3.1 billion cubic meters of gas from Europe and 2.132 billion cubic meters in 2013.
The largest part of downstream transport capacity until 2019 at the Vojany-Uzhgorod pipeline was purchased by Ukraine's national oil and gas company Naftogaz Ukrainy.
