EU Council says it's critical to ensure gas transit to Europe this winter
The European Union believes that an interim agreement between Ukraine and Russia on gas supplies is one of the key factors in ensuring the supply of gas to Europe this winter.
"Such an agreement, as well as urgent and long-term measures to improve energy efficiency in Ukraine, is critical for safeguarding the security of supply and transit this winter," reads a statement released after a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council on Monday.
