Government to pay debt for utility services, gas only in regions under control of Kyiv
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in its decision to compensate the debt liabilities of local budgets for utilities services and gas does not plan to distribute funds to the occupied territories.
"Budget funds will not be sent to the territories that are not under control of Ukrainian authorities," Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said.
Opening a cabinet meeting on October 8 Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said that the government decided to start a campaign on paying debts of local budgets for utilities services and gas, and UAH 7.3 billion will be allocated from the national budget.
Prodan also said that the total debt of heat supply companies amounts to some UAH 20 billion, and the funds provided from the budget will be sent to pay debts of budget organizations and the debt for the compensation of the difference in the tariffs.
