Reform of Ukrainian economy has to begin with Naftogaz – Ukraine's chief banker
The reform of Ukraine's economy has to begin with NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Valeriya Gontareva has said.
"It's not today that NJSC Naftogaz Ukrainy started to face this problem – this is a gap that has been widening for the 23 years of our [country's] life. I fully agree that we have to start our reform with NJSC Naftogaz," she told reporters in Kyiv on Monday.
Gontareva said that Naftogaz is the country's largest importer and the NBU has to sell foreign currency for it to settle invoices under foreign contracts.
Naftogaz earlier reported it planned to repay loans worth UAH 38.706 billion to commercial banks by the end of 2014.
