The governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), Valeriya Gontareva, is flying out to Washington this Wednesday to discuss prospects for Ukraine's cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, and to attend the annual fall meetings to be held by these organizations in Washington on October 10-12.
The visit will include a meeting with IMF chief Christine Lagarde, Gontareva told a press conference in Kyiv on Monday.
Commenting on the forthcoming talks, the NBU chief recalled the principal objective of cooperation with IMF: "to help us remove the imbalances to enable us to restore our industrial potential within half a year."
"Once it is restored, we will definitely be able to think not even of UAH 12.95 to $1, but of at least UAH 11.7 to $1, as we see it. But right now we need time," Gontareva said.
