Government to provide UAH 5 bln by late 2014 to cover subsidies for utility services
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will provide UAH 5 billion from the national budget to cover benefits, subsidies and compensations for utility services by the end of 2014, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said, opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
"I ask Ukrainians to come to the social protection departments to receive benefits, compensations and subsidies. We've allocated UAH 8.8 billion and UAH 3.8 billion has been spent. We have another UAH 5 billion for the period until the end of the year," he said.
The premier also said that he discussed a possibility of increasing benefits and subsidies with the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.
"Now we cover 10 million of families, to be more precise, we can cover them. In fact, we cover only 5 million. People should come," he added.
