Yatseniuk: Kyiv ready to buy Russian gas at market price
Ukraine is prepared to purchase natural gas from Russia at market prices, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"When we know this market price, we will pay it. But we are not going to subsidize Russia's Gazprom. We are ready to reach an agreement with Russia, but it should be done on market terms," Yatseniuk said at the Council of Foreign Relations in New York on Wednesday.
The Ukrainian prime minister, however, said he does not think that Moscow is interested in restoring market relations with Kyiv in the gas sector.
Hopefully, an arbitration court in Stockholm, which is now handling a lawsuit filed by Naftogaz of Ukraine, will resolve this issue.
