Ukraine guarantees fulfillment of gas transit obligations to Europe - Yatseniuk
Ukraine remains a reliable country on gas transit to Europe and will fulfill all of its transit obligations, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.
"I want to assure you that Ukraine is a strong transit country, and we will ensure transit. And for this reason we ask our European partners to have a direct relationship with Ukrainian companies engaged in gas transit," he said at the 12th meeting of the Energy Community in Kyiv on Tuesday.
Yatseniuk said that Ukraine and the EU countries would be able to find a common approach to create new transparent rules on the energy market to make their countries energy independent.
"We need transparent rules on the market so that no one can use gas as a weapon against our countries," he added.
