Ukrainian PC market 66% down in Q2, 2014, says IDC
The Ukrainian PC market narrowed by 66% in April-June 2014 year-over-year, to 195,000 devices, reads a Wednesday press release of IDC.
Supplies of desktop PCs fell by 47% year-over-year, to 82,000 and the laptop market plunged by 73.2%, to 113,000 units.
In addition, for the first time in recent months a fall in the tablet segment was seen. In Q2, 2014, 227,700 tablets were delivered to the Ukrainian market, which is 12.9% less year-over-year.
The e-book market also considerably fell – by 62%, to 8,600 units.
"The armed conflict in the eastern part of the country was and will remain the main destabilizing factor. Taking into account inflation and economic problems Ukraine has faced in the conditions of war, one cannot expect a quick restoration of the market," IDC said.
