Prime minister orders energy ministry to draw up bill to attract US, European partners to modernization of GTS
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has ordered the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine to draw up a draft law aimed at attracting U.S. and European partners to the modernization of the Ukrainian gas transport system (GTS).
"A bill which will allow attracting U.S. and European partners to the exploitation and modernization of the Ukrainian gas transport system with the retaining of control of Ukraine over the gas transport system is to be submitted to the parliament," he said at a cabinet meeting on Monday.
Yatseniuk also ordered the National Commission on Energy Regulation (NCER), which regulates energy tariff, to accelerate the execution of his order and bring the tariffs on Russian gas transportation to an economically justifiable level.
"We won't subsidize Russia," he said.
