West ready for new sanctions against Russia - White House
The United States and other G7 countries are ready to impose new sanctions on Russia if it continues to encroach on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney said at a briefing in Washington on Monday.
The United States, as well as the EU and other G7 countries, is ready for a new more intensive round with regard to Russia if it continues to encroach on Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, using the methods that are now used, or decides to move further and send its troops to Ukraine, Carney said, according to the Voice of America radio station.
He said that the White House was deeply concerned about the events in Odesa.
The possible loss of Odesa by Ukraine emphasizes the need for immediate de-escalation of the crisis, Carney said.
