Yatseniuk says Russia may limit gas supplies to Ukraine
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said that Russia will not stop raising gas prices for Ukraine and the next step will be limiting gas supplies to Ukraine.
"Russia has raised the gas price for Ukraine. Ukraine will now pay the highest price for gas in Europe, about $500 per 1,000 cubic meters. This is being to undermine the economic and social base of the country... I do not rule out that Russia will move further in terms of limiting gas supplies to Ukraine," he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Friday.
He said that Ukraine had begun urgent consultations with European partners on the possibility of reverse gas supplies from Europe, in particular, from Slovakia.
Yatseniuk noted that after the possible beginning of such reverse supplies the price of gas for Ukraine would be $100-150 lower than the price of Russian gas.
