Ukravtodor to fight kick-backs in sector, says head
The State Road Agency of Ukraine (Ukravtodor) plans to fight unofficial payments to road companies and kick-backs in the sector, the new head of the agency, Oleksandr Malyn, said at a press conference in Kyiv on Tuesday.
"We declared that the kick-back rate in repair and construction road estimates in Ukraine is now 0%. How quickly we will manage to apply the principle in our structure… We'll try to do this as soon as possible," he said.
He said that Ukravtodor has large sums of credit liabilities and today a dialog with business representatives on uncovering corruption liabilities in the funds is being held, and the agency propose that the estimate documents are changed together, and the volume of the state liabilities on the debts should be reduced by the amount of corruption sums.
Malyn said that it is impossible to defeat corruption – it's only possible to reduce its level. He said that there are no untouchable people in the sector, and any official could be published.
