Ukraine repaying gas debts to Russia despite financial crisis - minister
Ukraine continues repaying the debt for Russian gas, said Ukraine's Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan.
"We have repaid about $90 million for February, and we have yet to repay $350 million. Ukraine's debt for 2013 totals $1.5 billion," he told reporters in Kyiv on Sunday.
Prodan said the Russian partners would hopefully take into account the current situation in Ukraine which continues repaying debt for gas despite grave economic problems. He also said that no "gas war" will hopefully be fought between the two countries.
Ukraine plans to repay its gas debts in full to Russia after the reform that is being negotiated with the International Monetary Fund has been carried out, Prodan said.
