Volume of aid to Ukraine to be determined after country's economy assessed - IMF
The volume of aid that can be issued to Ukraine in the framework of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be determined after the IMF mission evaluating the economic situation in the country completes its work in Kyiv, IMF official representative Gerry Rice has said.
"We are expecting the IMF mission to complete its work in Kyiv soon, perhaps, tomorrow. Afterwards the mission will provide the IMF management with its assessment and recommendations for further actions in the sphere of economic policy, which could become the basis for the program, including that for the amount of financial assistance," he said at a press briefing in Washington on March 13, adding that "in the meantime, it's early to talk about possible figures."
As reported, the IMF mission plans to work in Ukraine on March 4-14. The fund intends to assess the current economic situation in the country, and discuss reforms in the sphere of economic policy that could become the basis for an IMF-supported program.
