Ukrainian service declines to comment on Nuland's recorded talk with U.S. ambassador
Ukraine's Security Service has declined to comment on a recording of a telephone conversation between U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Victoria Nuland and U.S. Ambassador to Kyiv Geoffrey Pyatt available on YouTube.
"We will refrain from commenting on this matter," a Ukrainian Security Service spokesman told Interfax on Friday.
According to earlier reports, during this telephone conversation Nuland frankly discussed the merits of the three main opposition leaders in Ukraine, Vitali Klitschko, Arseniy Yatseniuk and Oleh Tiahnybok, as well as used a graphic swear word when speaking about the European Union's role in settling the Ukrainian crisis.
U.S. Department of State spokesperson Jennifer Psaki said at a press briefing in Washington earlier that Nuland had apologized to her European partners for her remarks.
