Ukraine open to talks on setting up intl consortium to manage its gas transport system - Yanukovych
Ukraine is open to active and substantive negotiations on setting up a tripartite international consortium for the management of the Ukrainian gas transport system, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych said.
"They are telling us: make the conditions of access to the gas transport system transparent. You are welcome: we are considering these issues now, but we've been considering them since 2003," Yanukovych said in an interview with Ukrainian media on Thursday.
"Again, there was a time when the negotiations were suspended, but they have lately reached the phase of practical preparations for considering this issue: first, we have singled out Ukrtransgaz as a separate legal entity, and second, international auditors have worked and determined the value of this gas transport system. That is, there is already a subject for negotiations, and the way is open," Yanukovych said.
