Kyivstar jointly with Alfa-Bank to launch NFC payment service from Jan 15, 2014
Joint-stock company Kyivstar jointly with Alfa-Bank will launch an NFC payment service from January 15, 2014, Kyivstar said in a press release on Monday.
Testing on the payment was done in June 2013, and from January 15, 2014 the service will be available to those Kyivstar subscribers who are clients of Alfa-Bank.
Special SIM cards with NFC support can be bought at the bank's departments.
"The bank will open an account and a provide bank card [if clients do not have them] and bank data will be written on the SIM card. AlfaSmart software is to be downloaded to the phone to carry out payments. Then clients will be able to settle payments using the NFC solution in all institutions which have POS terminals that service contactless payments," reads the report.
NFC (Near Field Communication) technology allows the contactless exchange of data between mobile phones, smart-cards, payment terminals, control systems and other devices.
