Cancellation of visas by EU won't help Ukrainian economy – Pushkov
Chairman of the State Duma International Affairs' Committee Alexei Pushkov thinks that the introduction of a visa-free mode between the European Union and Ukraine will not resolve the problems of the Ukrainian economy at the present stage.
"The United States has urged the EU to cancel visas for Ukrainians. But the country's problem lies elsewhere – in the state of its economy and finance. Visa-free travels won't help it in that," he twitted on Sunday.
U.S. intentions to ask the EU to cancel visas for Ukrainian citizens immediately were disclosed by Vice President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vilija Aleknaite Abramikiene, who visited the protest action in the center of Kyiv on Saturday, as the Ekho Moskvy radio station reports.
Ukraine refused to sign the Association Agreement with the EU at the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius at the end of November.
