Ukrainian borrowers owe $30 b to Sberbank, VEB, VTB and Gazprombank – Putin

Ukrainian borrowers owe about $30 billion to Russian banks Sberbank, VEB, VTB and Gazprombank, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said at a press conference in Trieste.

"Our banks - Sberbank, Gazprombank, VTB and VEB - issue loans to Ukrainian partners. This is done regularly," Putin said.

According to him, the total debt on these loans slightly exceeds $20 billion and RUR 280 billion (almost $29 billion).

"Plus two billion that was paid for transit. These are loans and quasi-loans, their volume exceeds $30 billion," said the Russian president.

"We have worked and will continue working with Ukraine… in the field of energy resources, and in the financial sector," Putin said.
