Kyiv to discuss with Moscow their relations after formation of FTA with EU, says Azarov's spokesman
Ukraine hopes to discuss with Russia on August 26 the countries' cooperation in the case of the formation of a free trade area between Kyiv and the European Union, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov's spokesman Vitaliy Lukianenko said.
"We're planning Mykola Azarov's working visit to Moscow for August 26. Key issues of bilateral relations will be addressed there," Lukianenko told reporters in Kyiv on Friday.
He said that Ukraine's cooperation with Russia, the Customs Union and the CIS countries after the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU and the formation of an FTA is high on the Ukrainian-Russian agenda.
"Our position is that these two free trade areas should not be set in opposition to each other. Both are important to Ukraine, therefore there is a need to coordinate all regimes that emerge during the functioning of both free trade zones as broadly as possible as partners. In fact, they do not contradict each other, as they follow WTO principles," Lukianenko said.
