Infrastructure Ministry hopes to sign declaration on Common Aviation Area with EU in 2013
The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine hopes to sign a declaration on the Common Aviation Area with the European Union this year.
"The 8th round of talks on the common aviation area with the EU will take place from October 21 until October 23, and we hope that all of the technical issues our European partners have [with Ukraine] will be resolved and Ukraine will be able to sign the declaration this year," First Deputy Infrastructure Minister Kostiantyn Yefymenko said in Kyiv on Tuesday.
He said Ukraine will be able to agree on a transition time of about two to three years in order to prepare Ukrainian airlines for working in the common aviation area.
"We expect further growth in air travel, a minimum of 15-20% each year. We have reasons to believe that over a decade the volume of traffic will increase to 25-27 million passengers. At present, the airports are servicing about 14 million passengers a year," Yefymenko said.
