Azarov: Ukraine to increase grain production to 60-70 million tonnes per year
Ukraine is planning to achieve the production of 60-70 million tonnes of grain per year, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"We now produce around 53-54 million tonnes of grain. We are planning to achieve a level of 60-70 million tonnes, and further develop grain production at a rapid pace," he said at a meeting with French business representatives in Paris on Tuesday.
Azarov noted that Ukraine has consumers for this grain and there is also demand in the market.
He said that Ukraine had set a unique record in the current marketing year by exporting 26 million tonnes of grain.
