Yanukovych invites Austrian president to Ukraine

Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has invited his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer to visit Ukraine.

"We are expecting you in Ukraine this year at any time convenient to you," he said at a meeting with Fischer in Bratislava on Thursday.

Yanukovych said that a joint Ukrainian-Austrian intergovernmental commission was currently operating and that it would prepare proposals that will bring a new impetus to cooperation between the two countries.

Yanukovych also thanked Fischer for supporting Ukraine's European aspirations.

As reported, Yanukovych is on a visit to Bratislava, where he is attending the 18th Central and Eastern Europe summit.
