Defense Ministry of Ukraine earns $37 m after sale of surplus military property in 2012

The Defense Ministry of Ukraine obtained $36.9 million (UAH 310 million) from the sale of surplus military property in 2012, which has been transferred to a special fund, the ministry's press service reported.

As the ministry said, automotive engineering was in most demand.

According to the press service, today about 25,000 items of machinery and 87,000 property items worth about UAH 9 billion ($1.07 billion) have been included on the list of surplus property of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that was approved in August 2011 under a government resolution.

State specialized enterprise Ukrspetstorg enterprise, which was established in 2009, is authorized to sell military property and surplus military property suitable for further use.
