Health minister says benefits shouldn't be given to private clinics
Ukrainian Health Minister Raisa Bohatyriova has said state benefits should not be provided to private medical clinics.
"The activities of non-governmental health agencies are usually aimed at making a profit. In my opinion, it's currently premature to talk about giving them any benefits," she said in an exclusive interview with Interfax-Ukraine.
She said the question of private health institutions finding and attracting foreign partners and investors is resolved by them individually, and this helps create more modern and better medical institutions.
At the same time, Bohatyriova noted that the government supports the development of the private sector in the medical field and that a respective provision is envisaged in the foundations of Ukrainian legislation on health care.
Each year, the Health Ministry issues about 2,000 licenses to legal entities and individuals to carry out economic activities in medicine.
